MU Picked · Cold Weather Boots
Before having kids as soon as the weather turned frigid or sloshy, I would do my best to avoid the outside. Now school drop off or necessary fresh air make that a non-option. And though I might have shadows under my eyes and sometimes a pajama shirt under the famous Amazon coat , I do try to feel put together for the most part.
Enter, my dear friend and MU style contributor Liz Yingst and her picks for cold weather boots that are as stylish as they are functional. I personally love Liz as a stylist for making good style attainable while being mindful of our real life agendas. You can shop all her selections in the MU·Picked shop where we gather our favorites for balanced living in motherhood.

I bought these high-top Vans a couple years ago in grey (they no longer make that color) and I live in them during the winter, especially on school drop-off days with no client meetings!
A bit of a splurge, these Isabel Marant boots tend to be a staple for winter in New York. Not only is the shoe extremely warm, but also feels like a sneaker…and has a hidden heel to give you an extra lift.
Perfect for work or date night, the Beha Bootie is a great heel height and comes in 6 color ways. My favorite is the black suede with a leather toe.
For a mixed weather day, the Sperry Saltwater boot is a no-brainer. It comes in many color/fabric options, so it can be easily personalized to your taste. The grey above is one of my favorites! Also, my son wears these in the rain!
Designers have made the hiking boot fashion! This is a good alternative to the biker or Chelsea boot for colder weather. The suede and shearling combination by See By Chole is a homerun.
These easy over-the-knee boots by Zara have an elastic fabric leg detail (comfort!), with a flat sole (comfort!) and a fuzzy lining (warmth!).
It’s hard to beat the comfort and warmth of this classic snow boot. These come out of the back of my closet when the storms hit NYC!
This is a nice hybrid of the Western trend and classic Chelsea boot. And it’s waterproof, which makes it a smart city shoe with a comfortable heel.
